ABOUT

Paul “Bootsie” Bernfeld (he/him) is a talented percussionist and music educator from Annandale, VA, with over 20 years of experience. His background includes performing with the Washington Commanders Marching Band and the Washington Wizards District Drummers. A proud graduate of George Mason University, where he studies both classical and jazz percussion, Paul returns to GMU as an adjunct faculty member and distinguished alumnus. He teaches drumset and drumline for the Green Machine Ensembles. In addition to his university role, Paul shares his passion for percussion with students in Fairfax County and Loudoun County schools.

While they cover popular hits, their signature style infuses every performance with improvisational solos that turn each listening experience into something truly unique. With deep roots in soul and jazz, they take familiar tracks from icons like Stevie Wonder and John Mayer and transform them into unexpected sonic journeys. Their genre-bending approach invites audiences to hear these classics in a fresh way, as they blend soulful rhythms with captivating melodies, creating an electric atmosphere that keeps audiences coming back for more.
