ABOUT

Paul “Bootsie” Bernfeld (he/him) is a percussionist and music educator from Annandale, VA with over 20 years of percussion experience, including with the Washington Commanders Marching Band and the Washington Wizards District Drummers. He graduated from George Mason University where he studied both classical and jazz percussion. Now back at GMU as an adjunct faculty member and distinguished alumni, he teaches drumset and drumline for the Green Machine Ensembles. In addition to teaching at the university level, Paul also teaches percussion in Fairfax County and Loudoun County schools.

Bootsie & The Groove is a music collective that treats popular songs like jazz standards. They cover artists such as Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Amy Winehouse and Vulfpeck, but open up song forms to include solos. Come check them out every Friday 7:30-10 pm at The Hawk & Griffin in Vienna, VA.
